How does 3 Streams work?

3 Streams runs on a four-year educational sequence structured around internships, apprenticeships, and two-year residencies. In year one, the internship provides a well-rounded exploration into the various aspects of church leadership. In year two, the apprenticeship focuses on skills-based development in a particular ministry area. In years three and four, the residency provides a career pathway for individuals pursuing ordination within the Anglican church. More information about the apprenticeship and residency will become available in 2025.

How is 3 Streams Institute different from seminary?

Theological education is traditionally focused on the academic pursuit of biblical knowledge for ministry preparation. 3 Streams complements seminary education by focusing on personal and professional development within a ministry context.

Denver Seminary has partnered with 3 Streams to offer a pathway for tuition assistance through its Ministry Residency Program, while also providing opportunities for curricular integration with the Training & Mentoring program.

Will the curriculum include discussion around difficult ministry topics or cultural issues?

We understand the desire interns may have to discuss the practical outworkings of the gospel in the public life of the Christian. Although this is not the sole focus of the 3 Streams curriculum, we would like to create space to discuss the work of the church in the world, including how it pertains to difficult topics and current issues in our cultural context. These topics are explored more in the apprenticeship program.

Can someone begin in the apprenticeship before completing the internship?

Individuals who have significant previous church experience could potentially start directly into the two-year residency without completing the internship and apprenticeship. To discuss this option, contact us.

Are 3 Streams cohorts paid or unpaid?

For the 3 Streams internship, cohort participants will receive $8,000 (split evenly between the fall and spring semesters) to be used as tax-free tuition assistance or as a taxable living stipend. For students enrolled at Denver Seminary, the $8,000 also includes a 10% tuition discount if used for tuition assistance.

For the 3 Streams apprenticeship, cohort participants receive $8,000 to be used toward tuition or a living stipend. Wellspring church will match fundraised dollars up to $10,000/yr for apprentices. Apprentices will be provided training for fundraising as a part of their overall ministry preparation.

The 3 Streams residency is a full-time paid position with benefits. The salary is $74,500. Additional benefits include paid health insurance and dental for the resident. (Wellspring provides accepted applicants with fundraising training each spring for those who would like to increase this salary to support dependents.) For more information, please refer to the residency page.
